Oh, Why Not?

Have been debating whether to register for POTCert again.  Tempting to keep my evenings for leisure until demands of work increase – as they surely will in another month.  Should I engage when in all likelihood I won’t complete all the modules nor blog every week?

Well, why not?  Staying connected just has too much value to worry about saving face.  I’ve already defended participation for it’s own sake (http://wp.me/s1xsA3-dropout).  Besides exploring the possibilities of Google Sites that this year is revealing, I’m looking forward to exchanging ideas and adapting what I learn to my unconventional situation and technological challenges.

I teach Adult Literacy and upgrading in Whatì, a tiny fly-in community in Canada’s Northwest Territories. In spite of 20th-century infrastructure, the Internet permits global learning connections for those tenacious enough to persist.

    Hello Jim

Glad you’re re-engaging…I am too (started a few weeks ago and life interfered on my participation for a bit).

And my are you typing from a beautiful place in the world! Is that water shot above near you/your home or just a favorite view? gorgeous… Joy

That’s the view from our kitchen window, Joy.

Work got in my way these last two weeks – just getting back to reading the new materials in the class.

Plane is pretty much the practical and reliable way in and out of our community. We get an ice road across frozen lakes and swamps from January to March. That’s when heavy building supplies and fuel is hauled in.

  3. Hi, I’ve signed up too and already finding I am behind because of a lack of time and certainly high anxiety in my life overall. I have the book, but need to read the black and white bits though!

I’m in north west England. Jim, does that mean that you can only get to your town by plane?

  4. OK that makes three of us. Two of you (I’m in NM) in Canada. The lure learning Google sites gets me too….you can never have too many platforms. Following – or lurking – along is the best way to see how this configuration works too.

Verena, you’re in #OOE13 too, aren’t you? At some point they all start flowing together.

    • Verena says:

      Hi Vanessa-

Yes- I’m helping with #ooe13 🙂 This one is more for me though. I really want to rethink the way I am facilitating in online environments…You’re right- they blend together…

    Hello Jim!

I am late as well. So late I have yet to write my introductory blog post. I am delighted to see another Canadian! I’m in Calgary and am currently an open and eLearning online consultant – mostly for k12.

Looking forward to learning with you!

    Verena 🙂
